Digital communications group Netb2b2 reported a £400,000 reduction in interim losses, to £95,000, on falling sales of £2.7m - thanks in the main to management's recent decision to withdraw from certain unprofitable areas of business. The figures, for the six months to December, were enough to leave chairman Keith Young in typically exuberant mood and claiming that all three of the company's businesses - internet consultancy cScape, application hosting operation Blue Sky and publishing services group ITM - are in good shape. Although cScape is 'currently the star of the group', Young reasons that ITM is set to benefit from an anticipated publishing-industry resurgence and that Blue Sky's revenue streams have been doubled by the £317,000 purchase of rival Esna. 'They have a good customer base including the British Medical Association and the synergies are very apparent and immediate' says Young of the acquisition, adding that 'we expect the deal to pay for itself within two and a half years'. Having raised £1.2m in four separate placings since October, the company's cash position now looks secure too and Young et al remain on the look out for further acquisitions. Regular followers of the company will know, however, that despite promising much in the past, Netb2b2 has yet to truly deliver. Hold.
