Young and Co's Brewery 24/05/2012
Pub giant Young and Co’s Brewery (YNGA) delivered a pre-tax profit of 17% amid restructuring, shedding assets and acquisitions.
Print and digital publisher Quercus Publishing (QUPP) has made its titles available on the iBookstore in the UK, France and Germany. iBookstore is included in the free iBooks app for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.co.uk and PLUS-quoted Quercus, publisher of best selling Swedish author Stieg Larson's 'Millennium Trilogy' and 'The King's Speech', thinks it will provide a further boost to already strong sales.
Noting that the company's list includes some 200 illustrated books, chief executive officer Mark Smith says Quercus looks forward to 'using the fantastic display and capabilities and functionality of the iPad to bring exciting new visually led titles to the iBookstore.' Acquisitive Quercus, which lifted pre-tax profits more than eightfold last year to £7.5m on revenues up 66% to £31.8m, will include the 'Millennium Trilogy', 'The King's Speech' and recent non-fiction hits 'Dead Men Risen', 'An Epic Swindle' and 'Born Liars' among its titles in iBookstore.
Quercus has other deals and joint ventures at home and abroad. Although 2010's explosive Larssen-led growth is unlikely to be replicated this year, the company continues to make progress.
The shares, which have traded between 62p and 153p over the past year, now stand at 128p, up 3p this morning, valuing Quercus at £26.3m and yielding nearly 4%. Recommended by Growth Company Investor at 143p in May as a long term buy, they are still worth holding for their yield and future growth potential.
