AIM-quoted Debt Free, whose shares have risen from 25.5p to 430p in three years, gives free advice to heavily indebted people coping with their problems and made an interim £1.7 million interim profit from independent voluntary arrangement fees. The company was among nine winners in different categories of the annual GCI AIM awards, which were announced yesterday at a ceremony at Grocer's Hall in the City.

Numis won the award for AIM Broker of the Year and KBC Peel Hunt was named AIM Nominated Adviser of the Year. Baker Tilly came top in the accountants' category and DLA won the Lawyer of the Year award.
