Bid talk boosts Deal Group

13/02/2006 Robert Tyerman

Online marketing services concern Deal Group Media has received 'more than one approach', which could lead to a bid.

AIM-quoted Deal Group, which made an interim £154,000 pre-tax but later warned software installation delays could make a serious dent in the full-year figures, says it has received approaches which 'may or not may not lead to an offer' and warns 'there is no certainty that any of them will result in an offer being made'. That caution has not stopped 24 million shares changing hands in a frenzy lifting the shares 58 per cent to 5.13p.

The current price, though 50 per cent above Deal Group's flotation tag of 3.4p in 2003, remains 80 per cent below the shares' 25p peak last April. The shares are now a gamble on a firm bid emerging significantly above these levels.
