Gulf starts at Sheikh Adi-2 25/05/2012
Iraq-focused oil explorer Gulf Keystone Petroleum (GKP) has begun drilling at the Sheikh Adi-2 well in the Sheikh Adi block.
Intellectual property backer ANGLE (AGL) says its US diagnostic company Parsortix has captured cancer tumour cells circulating in patents' blood.
The AIM-quoted company owns 90 per cent of Parsortix, which had previously shown its cell separation technology could capture cultured breast, prostate and lung cancer cells added to blood, but had not, until now, established it could capture such tumours circulating in actual patients' blood.
Now, Guildford-based ANGLE reports the Parsortix team, working with Surrey University's oncology department, has successfully conducted a series of small separations of the blood of late-stage prostate cancer patients. The company says the results achieved compare favourably with existing antibody capture technology approved by the US Food and Drugs Administration.
Andrew Newland, founder and chief executive of ANGLE, declares this development is a 'tremendous step forward toward our goal of establishing the Parsortix separation technology as a market-leading product, which is simple, effective and affordable'. Highlighted by Growth Company Investor at 27p in July, ANGLE shares now trade at 84p, up 9p this morning, valuing the company at £30.3 million.
