Gulf starts at Sheikh Adi-2 25/05/2012
Iraq-focused oil explorer Gulf Keystone Petroleum (GKP) has begun drilling at the Sheikh Adi-2 well in the Sheikh Adi block.
Software services firm K3 Business Technology (KBT) has unveiled its third acquisition of the month - the latest being Retail Systems Group (RSG) for up tp £2.78 million.
The AIM counter has been talking to Coles Hill based RSG for over two years and is paying £1.28 million in cash, with the balance due in respect of surplus cash in the business on completion. With its focus on the mid-tier market, K3 argues that the deal will broaden its expertise - particularly at the volume end of the market where RSG is focused.
Founded 20 years ago, RSG has approximately 200 customers, including: Aston Martin, Highgrove House and the National Portrait Gallery. In the year to June the business achieved an operating profit of £300,000 on sales of £2 million. Some 40 per cent of its revenues are recurring, derived equally between managed services and maintenance/support.
Speaking to Growth Company Investor from Holland, chief executive Andy Makeham said 'this is a great fit for K3' he also added that there are 'an awful lot of good businesses out there which are available at attractive prices.' The integration of RSG should be relatively straight forward, and it also brings the opportunity to up-sell products at higher price points.
K3 is still in the midst of a strategic review, but the latest move is sensible and in line with its strategy of growth by bolt-on acquisition. The shares have marked time this morning at 164p, and remain attractive.
