Online gambling and advertising minnow Media Corporation (MDC) has extended its partnership with Express Newspapers by a further year.
Its division Eyeconomy has secured the deal, to manage all third party online advertising for the daily newspaper. In addition, it will seek sponsorships and long-term partners for the site. The agreement kicks in from 1 February 2012 and continues its existing three-year deal - it is expected to be worth in the region of £1 million a year.
In an interview with Growth Company Investor chief executive Justin Drummond said 'we are delighted to further strengthen our relationship with Express Newspapers.' The AIM penny share recently issued a trading update for the year to September, which revealed a 46 per cent hike in sales to £35 million.
The results are due later this month but are expected to show a loss of £1 million, for 2012 brokers point to a pre-tax profit of £400,000. Drummond added that current trading was satisfactory but, armed with a cash balance of £2.2 million, he is on the lookout for acquistitions - particularly in the fragmented gaming space.
At 1.3p the shares are valued at little more than twice its cash value. As Media Corporation expands it should be better placed to secure improved terms, particularly on advertising.
