Explorer Orogen Gold (ORE) has raised £1.16 million to fund exploration at Serbia's Deli Jovan gold project and seek new projects.
The AIM-quoted company, which secured the money at a discounted 0.5p, has an option to earn 55 per cent of Deli Jovan from Canada-listed Reservoir Capital by committing nearly £1 million.
By committing another £1.25 million, Orogen can take its stake in the project, where chief executive Ed Slowey says soil sampling has identified 'several highly prosective new gold targets', to 75 per cent. Diablo Consulting, where entrepreneurial public relations man Adam Reynolds has a stake, has subscribed to the placing and now holds almost 5 per cent of Orogen (formerly Medavinci).
The company says it has achieved access to two historic underground mines in the area, Rusman and Gindusa, where it sees iindications of 'a substantial mining operation in the past'. Orogen adds it is also looking for 'undervalued early-stage gold projects'.
Orogen shares have traded between 1.63p and 0.43p over the past year and now stand at 0.61p, down 0.15p this morning, valuing the company at £10.2 million. They have speculative recovery potential.
