Gulf starts at Sheikh Adi-2 25/05/2012
Iraq-focused oil explorer Gulf Keystone Petroleum (GKP) has begun drilling at the Sheikh Adi-2 well in the Sheikh Adi block.
Drug discovery technology specialist Cyprotex (CRX) claims its new 'Genomic ADME' service will be a boon to drug development concerns. As the world's largest contract research oganisation specialising in ADME Tox to analyse the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity properties of potential drugs, the AIM-quoted company argues the new 'breakthrough' service will enable drug developers to identify which enzymes play a role in the metabolism of their drugs.
That, says Cyprotex, should help them to understand the impact of genetic changes on that metabolism and to adjust dosages accordingly. Macclesfield-based Cyprotex contends this will give drug developers an opportunity to improve patient care through identifying and compensating for variability in drug response from different patients, in some cases individuals in different ethnic groups.Chief executive officer Dr. Anthony Baxter calls the Genomic ADME service 'a significant milestone in Cyprotex's scientific evolution', adding 'we can now offer a large portfolio of predictive toxicology services.'
Floated at 29p in 2000, Cyprotex shares have had a lacklustre recent history. After trading between 5.38p and 3p over the past year, they now stand at 3.25p, down 0.13p this morning, where they value the company at £7.3 million and offer speculative prospects.
