Technology group OMG (OMG) has unveiled a range of motion capture camera technology at the annual SIGGRAPH conference in Canada.
The SIGGRAPH conference in Vancouver, aimed at those working in the computer graphics industry, will see technology revealed by OMG including its small 'lipstick sized' camera, which is capable of capturing footage at up to 60 frames per second. OMG notes that this camera has potential for not only surveillance and medical use 'but also in the entertainment sector for less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data.'
OMG elaborates that the technology could be used via installation in a car to test more accurately how a driver interacts with a car in real world conditions. Furthermore, the company suggests that, if combined with a head-mounted device, it could be used to capture the 'contours of facial activity for the design of digital characters in games, films and on television'.
Analysts at Arbuthnot are forecasting pre-tax profits of £1.14 million and earnings of 1.2p a share on sales of £30.7 million for the year to next month. In 2012, the broker sees profits climbing to £3.26 million, for earnings of 3.5p a share, on revenue of £32.3 million.
Last recommended by Growth Company Investor at 31.5p in May, OMG shares have since slipped to 23.75p. The latest announcement does little to change the long-term prospects of the company, which earlier this year issued a trading update that resulted in a number of broker upgrades following the announcement that there would be a delay in an animation contract from a customer. Hold.
