The deal, for an undisclosed amount is for ACS' 'iNurse' offering, a system operated on a mobile phone and which allows nurses and others working in a hospital the ability to monitor patients remotely while working and to quickly access data on a patient. The company argues that it provides 'significant productivity and efficiency benefits' and that it 'allows healthcare professionals to increase the time spent with patients.' The technology is run off of smartphones such as the Blackberry.
Chief executive Vin Murria remarks that the deal allows the company 'to bring the benefits of mobile working to a wider range of healthcare professionals' which she insists 'ultimately allows more patients to receive better care.' Vodafone's 'mHealthcare Professional' range is a range of solutions for using mobile phones in the workplace.

Growth Company Investor recommended shares in ACS this month at 39.25p and they have since gained 13 per cent, to 44.5p. In our last recommendation we highlighted the potential of the iNurse technology in particular, and the latest deal is an encouraging step in its efforts to expand its usage.
