Iraq-focused oil explorer Gulf Keystone Petroleum (GKP) has begun drilling at the Sheikh Adi-2 well in the Sheikh Adi block.
Britain's largest wine warehouse chain Majestic Wine (MJW) was yesterday named AIM Company of the Year at the 2011 Growth Company Awards. Chosen like all the winners by a panel of judges from investment, broking and the media from a short list compiled by contacting every chief executive officer in the smaller comopanies field, Quercus lifted profits eightfold last year to £7.5 million thanks to Larsson and other authors.
Chief executive Mark Smith is pondering a possible move to the main market of the London Stock Exchange. Whether Quercus makes this move depends on the agenda of the company's key shareholder, private brand management concern Pentland Group.
Cenkos Securities, leading AIM nominated adviser in terms of clients' combined market value, won the award for AIM Broker of the Year. Steered by chief executive officer Simon Melling, the broker raised £1.4 billion for companies last year and another £24 million between January and mid-April.
Broker Brewin Dolphin was named AIM Adviser of the Year and St. Helen's Capital won the award for PLUS adviser of 2011. Baker Tilly and BDO were joint winners of the award for AIM Accountant of the Year, while Nabarro was named AIM Lawyer of 2011.
Unicorn AIM VCT took the crown for Venture Capital Trust Fund Manager of the Year, while Singer Capital Markets provided the Analyst of the Year. The award for Financial Public Relations Company of 2011 went to the fast-growing Threadneedle Communications.
