Iraq-focused oil explorer Gulf Keystone Petroleum (GKP) has begun drilling at the Sheikh Adi-2 well in the Sheikh Adi block.
Gambling concern 32Red has announced that the High Court has ruled in its favour in a trademark dispute with William Hill.
The AIM-quoted venture's dispute with the gambling giant, dating back to 2009, centred on William Hill's 32Vegas online casino. The High Court has now ruled that the use of "32Vegas" and "32V" infringed upon 32Red's European Community registered trade marks.
The court has ruled that there was a 'high' degree of similarity between the signs used by 32Red and 32Vegas, drawing particular attention to the initial 32. The judgement adds there is a 'likelihood of confusion' on the part of the public between 32Red and 32Vegas and cites 'some evidence of actual confusion as well.'
32Red will now look to the court to obtain repayment for 'significant legal costs', an injunction to prevent the use of its trademarks in the EC and an inquiry into the extent of damages or profits that resulted from the infringement.
Following the news, the shares in 32Red have climbed 19.4 per cent to 20p. The outcome is likely to please shareholders in 32Red, whose prospects have been enhanced by the ruling.
