Iraq-focused oil explorer Gulf Keystone Petroleum (GKP) has begun drilling at the Sheikh Adi-2 well in the Sheikh Adi block.
Clean fuel technologist Oxford Catalysts Group has won a symbolic first commercial order from Portuguese partner SGC Energia. Based in Oxford and with operations in the USA, the company says SGC, a vehicle for entrepreneur Joao Pereira Coutinho and its partner for synthetic fuels with biomass and solid feedstock applications, has placed an order for a commercial-scale reactor and catalyst using its Fischer-Tropsch technology.
It is understood the SGC order is not particularly significant financially, but it is the first 'commercial-scale' order for a Fischer-Tropsch reactor and the company says it is now 'on track' to secure a larger commercial order from SGC 'on completion of agreed technical milestones'. The order suggests the company's continuing demonstration of Fischer-Tropsch technology at Gussing in Austria, where it has had a biomass gasifier in operation for eight years, is winning interest.
Chief executive officer Roy Lipski declares the present order provides 'a well-timed opportunity to demonstrate our manufacturing readiness ahead of larger orders to come and full commercial roll-out'. Floated at 174p in 2006 and highlighted by Growth Company Investor at 49p last February, the shares have traded between 45p and 84p over the past 12 months and now stand at 62.5p, valuing the company at nearly £40 million.
Hold on if you are prepared to wait for the hoped-for full commercial payoff.
