Gulf starts at Sheikh Adi-2 25/05/2012
Iraq-focused oil explorer Gulf Keystone Petroleum (GKP) has begun drilling at the Sheikh Adi-2 well in the Sheikh Adi block.
Dublin-based gold explorer Conroy Diamonds and Gold has raised £1.8 million at 6p to develop projects near the Irish border.
The AIM-quoted company, which lost a slightly reduced £242,000 in the year to May, intends to spend the proceeds at Clontibret in Co. Monaghan, where it has identified a one million-oz gold resource, and at Clay Lake in Co. Armagh, which Conroy suggests could prove 'even more prospective than Clontibret.'
Chairman Professor Richard Conroy has agreed to ease the company's financial position by converting a £600,000 loan into shares, taking his stake in the company to 21.9 per cent. Conroy, which has also found 'a large zinc anomaly' to the south of Clontibret and Clay Lake but has no diamond prospects left, will ask shareholders to agree to change the company's name to Conroy Gold and Natural Resources.
Floated at 25p 10 years ago, Conroy's shares have fallen far and, after trading between 11.5p and 3.75p over the past year, now change hands at 7.13p. That values the company at £13.6 million.
