Drug discoverer Vernalis (VER) is to raise £68.5 million as part of a joint venture with US concern Tris Pharma.
Resources in Insurance halves interim deficit
Diversified claims manager Resources in Insurance Group (RIIG) is seeking expansion opportunities after cutting first-half losses 51 per cent to £152,000.
Chaired by indefatigable small company player John French, the London-based company increased turnover 35 per cent to £925,150 in the six months to June, under the impact of a continuing reorganisation and reorienting set in train two years ago.
French says AIM-quoted RIIG, formerly Claims People, has won new clients among major insurers with its 1-Team in-sourced and outsourced claims management service and another new service, Verify. He argues reforms of personal motor claims introduced by the Ministry of Justice should also offer more scope for RIIG, which after issuing £300,000 of convertible loan stock and last month raising £200,000 in shares at 0.45p, is 'fully financed to capitalise on growing the current business'.
Now 0.50p, after trading between 0.80p and 0.40p over the past year, RIIG shares value the company at £900,000. They offer scope for renewed growth provided current operating improvements are maintained.
