Study cheer for ReNeuron

Stem cell therapy pioneer ReNeuron says another pre-clinical study shows positive results for its CTX stem cell line.

According to the Guildford-based company, research conducted by Professor Paolo Madeddu, chair of experimental cardiovascular medicine at the Bristol Heart Institute, has shown positive efficiency data for the CTX line in treating peripheral arterial disease (PAD). A chronic and debilitating disease, PAD restricts blood flow in the limbs and is associated with diabetes, obesity and stroke.

ReNeuron says Professor Madeddu’s research showed that the cells were seen ‘to generate significant recovery of blood flow’ and to improve damaged tissue. The results will be the focus of a presentation this week at the UK National Stem Cell Network Second Annual Scientific Conference in Oxford.

ReNeuron shares plunged from 48.5p to 2.75p between early 2007 and last December. They have now bounced to 4.38p, valuing the company at £6.75 million.
