Electronic queuing group LO-Q foresees a net profit this year after cutting interim losses 70 per cent to £60,900.

AIM-quoted LO-Q, whose equipment enables visitors at theme parks and other 'multi-event' venues to book and maintain places in queues for specific events while sampling other attractions, boosted sales 72 per cent to £654,000 in the six months to June, while costs rose only 223 per cent to £162,000. Chairman Jeff McManus says the sales surge reflects increased use of the company's equipment by visitors to busy parks, greater take-up of LO-Q's dearer 'gold service' and multiple equipment renting on corporate outings.

Reading-based LO-Q has a deal to install and operate its equipment for at US theme park operator Six Flags and says this has resulted in sales at one of them , Georgia Park, 50 per cent above other parks without the system. This autumn the company is also installing a pilot system at the 2.25 million-visitors-a-year Dollywood Theme Park in Tennessee, owned by Dolly Parton and Herschend Family Entertainment Corp, which, if successful, could lead to a three-year contract.

LO-Q has much lost ground to make up after a torrid history which saw its shares plummet from 2002's £1 float to 3p last year. Now 16.25p, they could, as we said in July, still repay a strong-nerved punt.
