Communications software specialist Adamind says a new contract, rumoured in the industry to be with Orange, could yield £600,000.

Sector-watchers believe AIM-quoted Adamind, whose software gives multimedia content and converged communications access to any handset or network, will integrate its software with Orange's mobile network infrastructure at the heart of France Telecom's network, one of the largest in Europe. Adamind will deploy its 'MediaSpire' media adaptation platform to upgrade existing multi-media messaging services on the network in return for an initial licence fee plus revenues from capacity upgrades resulting from increases in media-rich content traffic.

Chief executive officer Shailendra Jain says the contract should generate revenues of around £600,000 over two years. He claims 'this is one of several deals we expect to close in Europe with this particular telecom infrastructure vendor over the coming months.'

If so, that will bring welcome comfort to Adamind's battered shareholders, following the company's warning last week that revenues in the first half of 2006 would be 'substantially below market expectations'. Last year California-based Adamind, the product of merging the transcoding activities of Philips Electronics and Emblaze, doubled revenues to £3.565 million and reduced losses by two-thirds to £720,000.

Floated early last year at 132p, Adamind shares plunged all the way to 39p last week, but have since rallied to 43.5p, valuing the company at £17.2 million. They are a recovery gamble for the extremely bold.
