Electronic trading technology specialist Patsystems is to supply its new Global Trading system to Australia-owned Macquarie Bank.

The listed derivatives business within Macquarie's futures division will be taking Global Trading from the first quarter of next year. David Webber, chief executive officer of AIM-quoted Patsystems, will not disclose the terms of what is the first installation agreement for the new system, but says the hope is that it will build up continuing revenues for the coming years.

'The first sale is always the hardest,' comments Webber. He hopes that by taking Global Trading 'as a fully hosted service', Macquarie will stimulate sales to other potential corporate users, though the deal 'does not change our expectations for this year's results'.

Shares in Patsystems, which increased interim pre-tax profits 57 per cent to £639,000 on turnover up nearly ten per cent to £7.8 million, have risen 0.25p today to 28.25p, valuing the company at £50 million. That is more than twice the 13.25p at which Growth Company Investor recommended the shares last year, but well below early 2000s levels when the company was on TechMark.
