Media adaptation software specialist Adamind has clinched a three-year contract with US giant Universal Music worth up to £588,000.

AIM-quoted Adamind, which is based in California and operates in the US and Israel, is to adapt music and content for Universal Music Group's Universal Music Mobile US (UMM US) subsidiary, which serves up to 170 million consumers in North America. This is Adamind's first major deal with a global media company and should generate revenues of between £295,000 and £588,000, according to analysts.

But Adamind believes its real significance is that it could lead to other contracts with large groups outside the mobile network operators, which have been its principal customers so far. Chief executive Shailendra Jain says 'we have been chosen from an extensive list of solution providers.

'By integrating Adamind's end-to-end, comprehensive, rich-mobile-content production, delivery and distribution technology as a key component to UMM US's proprietary music and entertainment content management system, UMM US is able to optimise its multimedia music and entertainment content to fit best any mobile network or device.' With media adaptation powered by Adamind's Spire production suite, UMM US should be able to provide 'rich mobile high-quality audio and video content service offerings such as mastertones, ringback tones and full-track video and audio downloads'.

Floated by Bridgewell Securities last February at 142p, Adamind shares have since fluctuated between 155p and 84.5p. At 117p, up 7.5p today, they value the company at £46 million and could improve further if the Universal deal does lead to new and profitable subsequent contracts.
