People: Patel backs his boys
Atul Patel, the finance director of IT security specialist NCC Group, shows no lack of belief in his company’s employees. Regarding Anonymous/ Lulzsecurity, the collective of hackers who spun off from the 4chan imageboard and have been able to bring down the websites of organisations including the Serious Organised Crime Agency, he insists that ‘most of the people that we employ (to hack into customers to find security weaknesses) are probably better than those that work for Anonymous’.
Patel is also keen to note that the ‘big trend’ in security is in protecting tablets such as the iPad. He suggests, mysteriously, that there are ‘certain countries’ that are very focused on hacking into them.
