Tony Yeo, vice president of commercial finance at cinema chain Cineworld, concedes that 3D films have not been an entirely resounding success. He remarks that there was ‘probably a lot more excitement last year’ in 3D technology, adding, ‘We are probably hitting a plateau in terms of the market for 3D.’
Cineworld recently began experimenting with a high-end cinema concept called The Screening Rooms in Cheltenham, which includes a bar selling champagne and wine, leather sofas and waiters for tables. Yeo remarks that the company is looking to target ‘a more mature and affluent market’ with the concept, describing it as a ‘niche area’ for the business.
