Appointments: Unity in Africa

06/07/2011 Robert Tyerman

West Africa-focused GoldStone Resources has announced the appointment of Rod Hanson as non-executive director.

Hanson, a CEO at the ASX-listed Unity Mining, which itself holds a 33.2 per cent stake in Goldstone is a mining engineer with more than 35 years’ experience in gold and base metals. His previous roles have included stints as the general manager operations for plutonic resources at Chinese gold miner Sino Gold.

AIM-quoted Goldstone’s South African CEO, Jurie Wessels, enthused that Hanson is welcomed to the board as ‘the second representative of Unity’ (joining Tim Churcher who currently serves on the boards of both Unity and Goldstone). Wessels added that ‘Unity’s recently announced increased holding in the company demonstrates its confidence in the company and its projects.’
