Mike Warriner, chief technology officer of AIM-listed technology concern Parseq, enthuses about the potential for ‘geo-fencing’ on smartphones. ‘It will allow people to receive messages and alerts specific to a particular area. For example, if you want to get an alert after you leave a particular building, you can set a “virtual fence” that will then send you the alert after you leave the building.’
Warriner is also a fan of the potential of social media, holding considerable optimism in the passion young people feel for their banks. ‘We want people that have good experiences with their bank to then go on Facebook and “like” (a way of indicating approval for a particular topic or company online) that bank.’
