PLUS has made a number of changes to improve its prospects. The exchange has signed an agreement with message board and trading service Interactive Investor to develop online trading for PLUS-SX stocks. Other changes include the launch of PLUS Analytix, a tool that will provide data on factors including p/e ratios and sector performance.
Finally, there was the launch of a ‘mentor programme’ that will see existing PLUS-quoted companies ‘share their practical knowledge of public markets’ with those joining PLUS.
Speaking to Growth Company Investor, Vivienne Cassley, relationship manager at PLUS, enthused that the agreement with Interactive Investor is a ‘good deal for our business as our focus is on retail investors’, adding that they are the ‘lifeblood’ for smaller company trading. Regarding the launch of PLUS Analytix, she argues that it ‘provides investors with the sort of service that would typically be provided by brokers’.
Regarding the future of PLUS, Cassley enthused that the focus would be on ‘planning to improve the functionality for investors’, noting that of late the exchange had been marketing extensively in Asia, with a particular interest in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia. She added that ‘a number of Chinese companies in particular are keen to get their first foothold in Europe’.
