A number of market veterans were invited to the annual PLUS awards held at the impressive BAFTA building on Piccadilly. An event to celebrate those that have contributed towards the success and growth of the exchange, the awards were picked by a judging panel that included Winterflood Securities boss David Abrahams and Growth Company Investor editor Miles Nolan.
Guests were treated to a talk by Dragon’s Den panellist and serial entrepreneur James Caan, who discussed the importance of small businesses in the current economy as well as his recent charity work in Pakistan, the country of his birth.
Winners on the night included the company of the year award which went to publishing sensation Quercus, the company behind the Swedish crime trilogy written by the late Stieg Larsson. The award for Chairman and CEO of the year went to Michael Infante of media group One Media Publishing, the group which owns the music catalogues of the work of a number of artists including material by Haitian hip-hop legend Wyclef Jean and Brighton-based British dance star Fatboy Slim.
