Friends and former colleagues of James Cassley, who was for some years a key member of the Vitesse Media sales team, have been shocked and saddened by his death in a plane crash in Central Africa at the age of 30.
Irish-born Cassley, who had left the media world for banking a few years ago, was working for Canadian Investment bank GMP Securities and was travelling with a party that included Australian mining tycoon Ken Talbot. The deligation was on its way to visit an iron ore project in the Congo-Brazzaville region when the charter plane went down.
James, who had also worked for Collins Stewart and Shore Capital will be remembered for his enthusiasm and good fellowship, as well as for his occasionally idiosyncratic way of expressing himself.
His factual knowledge of any manner of subjects and statistics, ranging from history and geography to politics, sport and much else besides, could be awesome and he relished sharing it with others.
Our sympathy goes to his wife and parents.
