Benefits of past investment will benefit Vp, suggests Les Copeland
Among those watching current upheavals at PLUS share market advisers are Dutch entrepreneur Dirk van Dijl, ex-boss of City Car Club and a prime mover in online small company ginger group Enterprise Britain, and Tony Drury, founder of Enterprise Britain and chairman of Axiom Capital, which is regrouping itself to be a full PLUS player. Van Dijl has been working, without assistance from the market’s authorities, on a series of PLUS indices, whose dissemination, he feels, might encourage more institutions to dabble in the market.
Drury, who was invited to join Golders Green-based Axiom at the behest of the Financial Services Authority and PLUS itself and has now had its compliance officer approved by the powers that be, was head of St Helen’s Capital before it became part of the Astaire investment group. That makes him particularly intrigued at the resignation of Astaire’s boss, Edward Vandyk, and the decision to put chunks of its business up for sale.
‘I think there is a future for PLUS,’ he opines. ‘But I don’t want to spoil a good narrative.’
