Revitalised film industry software specialist Zoo Digital has appointed 42-year-old sales and marketing man Gordon Doran as commercial director with an immediate board seat. He was already president of the company’s North American division, having first joined in 2005, with a brief to build up US operations for the company, whose technology helps Hollywood studios save money and reduce DVD and Blu-ray disc ‘time to market’ as recession bites.
Doran’s looks an astute and timely appointment. He knows the sector inside out, having been chief operations man at DVD software developer MedioStream before joining Zoo.
And what’s more, says Zoo boss Stuart Green, ‘Gordon has proven himself to be pivotal in establishing relationships with a large number of US entertainment companies’ at a time when Zoo’s sales across the Pond are mounting.
Recent annual numbers to March from Zoo were encouraging. Previous losses of £1.9 million turned into profits of £200,000, on sales that doubled to £6.6 million.
