Surgical Innovations was formed by the merger of previously listed Haemocell and Surgical Innovations, a private company. The new entity sells equipment for keyhole surgery as well as systems for autologous blood transfusions (putting one's own blood back into the body after operations, thus reducing the chance of disease or infection). SI plans to create a niche market in products used in operating theatres and benefit from cross-selling the two companies' products. It recently won an award for the use of lasers in the manufacture of its medical devices for minimally invasive surgery.
