Controversial oil exploration and production company Premier continues to see new fields brought into production with the Ranger-operated Kyle field in the central North Sea, the latest to be brought on stream and expected to stablilise at around 20,000 barrels per day. The North Sea delivered an average 16,600 barrels of oil equivalent per day to Premier during 2000, most of the company's overall production during the period, which resulted in £17m pre-tax profits. The start of and increases in production from fields located in Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma) and Pakistan will overtake that this year, with a total 50,000 barrels per day estimated to be produced by Premier's working interests during the year.
