New OMG chief executive Nick Bolton is determined to revitalise sales at the 3D capture and movement analysis venture, following a disappointing half-year to March. Appointed to the hot seat in May, with founder Julian Morris staying on as deputy chairman, Bolton insists there is still everything to play for, with OMG having bagged an order for its motion capture systems from computer games giant Electronic Arts.
He worked at OMG before its 2001 AIM float as a product manager, then left to pursue other marketing roles, including a key one in the turnaround of AIM-listed content management software author Mediasurface.
OMG’s interims were hit by delays to major US deals – profits of £154,000 made way for losses of £549,000. The company won a Scientific and Technical Academy Award at this year’s Oscars, a year in which four of seven films competing for Best Visual Effects used OMG services.
‘There are more deals in the pipeline,’ teases Bolton, ‘and they are of at least the same stature as the Electronic Arts one.’
