Forecasting which way techMARK will go is fraught with dangers. Alain Argile's TMT team at Credit Lyonnais points out that the recent market recovery, which has seen the techMARK 100 index recover 18 per cent to 1333 points, makes 'two major assumptions'. One of these is that all will end well in Afghanistan and that no more terrorist attacks will be launched in the meantime; the other is that the measures taken by the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank will rapidly boost investment and stimulate household consumption. Argile suggests both these assumptions look like 'rather wishful thinking'.
