Highly-regarded pork and sausage producer Cranswick has expanded its food interests through the acquisition of sandwich and sandwich-ingredients supplier North Wales Foods (NWF). Although Cranswick is refusing to reveal how much it has paid for NWF, finance director John Lindop explains that the deal reflects his company's desire 'to increase its presence in a rapidly growing market'. NWF currently supplies its wares to convenience stores, garage forecourts, schools and hospitals in and around North Wales. Cranswick's plan is to expand the firm's reach into neighbouring regions such as Liverpool and Cheshire. Cranswick, which is expected to report yet another record profit of around £19.5m this year, will publish its interim report to September in the coming weeks.
