Centurion Energy has found more gas in Egypt's Nile Delta and is considering how to prepare for production next year.

Alberta-based Centurion, which is quoted on Toronto and AIM, encountered 'gas-bearing zones' in the Luzi-1 exploration well on the eastern side of its West Manzala concession. Centurion, run by chairman and chief executive Said Arrata, shares this well 50-50 with Shell, but has 100 per cent of the EW-13 development well in the El Wastani field, which has been tested at a maximum rate of 17.3 million cubic feet a day with 290 barrels a day of concentrate.

Centurion has not been so lucky with its Hurani-1 well in the Manzala concession. This ran into thick sand and will be plugged and abandoned.

The company says it is considering various 'development options' for West Manzala which could bring it to production during 2007. Floated at 57.5p three years ago, the shares soared to 780p in February 2005 but have since retreated to 345p, up 17.5p today, and could improve further.
