As KBC analyst Paul Hickman highlighted a few weeks back, the main excitement in the leisure sector this year has been all the merger and acquistion activity, with the likes of Parkdean, Centre Parcs, Mitchells & Butler and Luminar all involved in some way, shape, or form.
Hickman reckons consolidation ‘will only increase’ and the ‘inelegant‘ task for market commentators, now or in the future, is to spot potential targets.
His selection of stocks according to this criteria are the struggling Hardys & Hansons, the ‘undemandingly valued’ Holiday Break and racecourse operator Arena Leisure.
