Ascendant online betting star Sportingbet, AIM’s biggest member, has installed HBOS man David Hobday as chief operating officer.
Hobday has yet to work out his notice period at HBOS, owner of the Halifax and Bank of Scotland, where he is managing director of the consumer division. He was previously deputy managing director of the consumer division at Telewest Communications and has held several senior marketing positions with Procter & Gamble.
Sportingbet’s chief executive Nigel Payne declares that the company ‘has always placed great emphasis on the quality of its management team and has sought to recruit the very best talent available’.
October’s full year figures to July made good reading, as pre-tax profits rose fivefold to £40.8 million, helped by a significant contribution from last November’s acquisition, Paradise Poker.
