Last season's phenomenal performance, in which the club achieved its highest ever points total in winning division two, could prove to be a hard act to follow. However, the club has held a position in the top ten of division one all season and chairman Bryan Gray has his heart set on the Premiership. £2.8m was raised from share placings and the club secured an additional £1.1m from TV revenue to provide funding for a promotion push. Last season's on the field success at Deepdale boosted sales at the interim stage for the half year to December, but failed to improve operating losses. Turnover rose by 28% to £3.5m as a result of a 10% lift in average crowds to 14,000 and a 60% boost in season ticket sales to 8,400. After charging amortisation of players contracts of £400,000, operating losses came in at £583,000 (£542,000). Should Preston win promotion to the top flight, the board expects that the club could gain a further £2m in TV revenue per year.
