Channel Television Group is losing pace and it won't be on the market for much longer under this name. With the sale of Channel Television and Creative Channel in June, to Media Holdings for £16.3m in cash, the company will be changing its name to ComProp and cutting growing costs. Although airtime sales from Channel Television increased by 8% up to March 2000, investments into new programmes were not successful and so expansion and growth were stunted, bringing the turnover down by £67,000 compared to the same period last year. Bourne Training has also been sold and the empty office space resulting from these disposals is being sold in its turn. The disposals have brought an injection of cash into the business which has upped pre-tax profits to £1.2m, a 65% increase on last year, and this will be used to consolidate the exisitng subsidiaries. Under the new title of ComProp (subject to shareholders' approval), the company will concentrate on its publications, recently relocated to Guernsey, and streamline its technology business to focus on rental only.
