Fund manager Peter Webb and associates have bought 5.25 per cent of finance group Dowgate Capital.
AIM-quoted smaller company specialist Dowgate, owner of Ellis Stockbrokers and CFA Capital, has revealed the purchase only a few weeks after possible takeover talks with fellow investment group Daniel Stewart were abandoned. Webb, a sometimes controversial City star who founded the Eaglet investment trust, recently relinquished the top job at another investment group, Unicorn.
Shares in Dowgate are unchanged at a depressed 5.5p.
